Kuwaiti Health Ministry Hit by a Cyberattack
September 28, 2024 by Pierluigi Paganini
The Kuwait Health Ministry has been dealing with a cyberattack that disrupted multiple hospital systems and disabled their Sahel healthcare app. While the website remains offline, essential services are gradually being restored.
Backups have been restored for various critical systems, including those at the Kuwait Cancer Control Center, the health insurance system, and the expat check-up systems. Kuna.net reported the Ministry’s statement, confirming previous technical issues and revealing "attempts of a breach."
Government security agencies collaborated to contain the attack, and additional security measures are being implemented. Although details haven’t been disclosed, the attack’s nature suggests a possible ransomware attack.
Currently, there are no claims from any ransomware groups.
